Vegan at a Pig Roast

Recently , I lost a very dear friend to cancer. Ironically, our friendship of almost 20 years began and ended with cancer. I met her while training for the Susan B. Komen Walk to raise money for breast cancer research and treatment.
One of my fondest memories is the pig roast she and her husband hosted at their home with the biggest smoker I’ve ever seen. Aside from being a lovely party, I am vegan and was introduced as such, which all of the guests found to be very humorous amidst concerns around what I was going to eat.
When my friend was first diagnosed and needed surgery, she would often remark that she did not understand. She did everything right. She ate well. She exercised. She spent time in nature. She retired from her high stress profession.
I have no answers as to why there are times and situations that feel incongruous to our expectations, and I am equally perplexed when bad things happen to good people. I will say this though - food is cellular information. You truly are what you eat!
What you feed your mind, body, and spirit matters! So dare to be good to your body. Be like a vegan at a pig roast. Live your best life! Stay true to who you are and channel your inner dragon fly. Please reach out, I can help.
